Music
So far there have been no proper releases, but publicised tracks can be heard to the right. I'm in the works of making a full album - not too much longer to go, stay tuned.
Perhaps this is an experiment in trying to sonically create a place that doesn't exist. Chopped up drums, echoing guitars, pulsing synths, reverbing lead lines and such. Or perhaps that's a load of wank. I'm not sure yet. At least it's a name I can put occasional music creativity under whenever it occurs.
I make this all purely for fun, no live shows, no expensive set ups. I plan to release my upcoming album for free, so keep tabs on what's going on and one day you'll get a download link, and a subsequent 50+ mins of something new to listen to.
If you have any questions or comments, you can email me at secheronpeak at gmail dot com, or just use the ask box below:
And I’ll even email the link to you. Just put your email address in the box to the right and once this thing is ready, I’ll send you the link and you’ll have 50+ minutes of new music to listen to.
I plan to release it under one of the Creative Commons licenses. Most likely this one, which means that the songs can be used in any non-commercial project as long as it’s credited, but cannot make derivative versions or be used in commercial projects, unless you email me or something. I don’t bite. People using these songs in their works sounds like a great idea. Even for commercial projects I’ll probably just say yes.
Keep in mind this might be months away. Might be a cool surprise.
New song, titled ‘Surrounding’. I don’t normally make ambient music like this, but it’s a nice alternative to meticulously layering up drum samples. It’s unlikely it’ll be on the album (as it’s so different to the others), so I thought I’d upload it on youtube early.
This is what I’m thinking of for some kind of album artwork.
Oh, and this site now is run on Tumblr, so there’s all that extra interactivity, RSS feeds, permalinks etc. And that’s how I was able to reblog this post from my normal blog. The end.
Getting so close to a completed product now, so I thought I’d upload the first half of one of the songs. It’s called ‘Grid Arp’.
In other news, 8/11 songs have been written completely and I will be working out how to make them sound nicer next. Because nice sounding sounds sound nice.
Fitting in song makings between everything else is difficult, but I have over half an album complete. Here is a pictorial representation of how each of the songs are going, where solid lines are finished sections and dotted lines are yet to be completed.
Click the image to enlarge it. There are 5 songs that are structurally complete, many more with some parts to be filled in but mostly the right sound to them, and a couple that are yet to be properly attempted. Yep.
So, I now have the beginnings of 11 new songs to put together into a coherent album, out of the 25 or so I’ve started. Each at various stages of completion, but it’s slow progress. Getting a good idea of how it will all fit together. But I wont show you that.
Instead, I’ve got rid of my silly music player and am using an embedded soundcloud thing. Spectrograph effects now work too! Unless you have youtube open in another tab or other flash files - Adobe’s fault. I’m not even catching my exceptions right now so it’s just as much my fault. Oh well, when it works it’s pretty!
So 65daysofstatic are having a remix competition for their new song Crash Tactics. I’m definitely gonna enter it, got some odd ideas to try out, will post results once completed.
Currently have begun another 11 songs, will see which ones of these come out alright soon. 12, 13 and 6 should be definite ones. I have uploaded a demo of the first song I started, called Airglow. Quite happy with it so far.
Also on this website in particular I have got some nice spectrograph effects going now, as well as cleaning up the navigation. Scroll doesn’t jump. Still much more to do, IE8 screws with the alignment still argh.
The page is up. Alright, this has been made so I have a good central position to share music-related productivity with people. So far I have one new song uploaded, check it out to the right. Hasn’t been mixed very well but if/when it makes it’s way onto a full album that will all be sorted out.
Secheron Peak is a bit of a follow-on from a music challenge that I did last year under the name ‘Echo Nine’. Echo Nine was an attempt at writing and producing seven songs in seven days. But then it took nine days to complete. If anyone is interested you can check out the results here, all free to listen to / download (if the link was working, I must fix that.)
This new project does not follow the same ‘restrictions’ as the last, so a new name was chosen. This time with no time limits attached.
Hope you enjoy it, there will be far more to come in future.
